Future By Design’s “You Call This Justice” was originally recorded back in 2007, but the lyrics were not written until 2026. This is actually my first vocal Drum and Bass track. I’m bringing my understanding of scripture to face the current reality of the world we live in. We face injustice from those who are supposed to guide our lives, self interest and greed are endemic (maybe a “pandemic”). I don’t think we can expect such people to wake up and learn, so we are going to have to build the way to righteousness ourselves, if that is what we truly desire.

Below you can find an in depth video about the song or read the article as an explanation.

YOU CALL THIS JUSTICE – LYRICS

VERSE ONE

You call this justice?

You call this justice?

You, You,

You call this justice.

You call this justice?

Yes you do,

Yes you do,

You call this justice.

You call this justice?

Democracy, for the rights to see,

Your freedoms stripped away.

You call this justice?

Now, please pay your taxes,

And be a willing wage slave,

For the relentless war machine.

You call this justice?

I don’t think they ever knew,

I don’t think they’ll ever learn the truth,

(Ever learn the truth)

Twisting justice into bitterness.

You call this justice?

I don’t think that they perceive it,

I don’t think that they will ever see,

(Ever ever see)

Twisting justice into bitterness.

You call this justice?

I don’t think that they hear it,

I don’t think they’ll ever understand,

(Ever understand)

Twisting justice into bitterness.

You call this justice?

And you call this justice,

And you call this justice,

Twisting justice into bitterness,

There’s a warrant for your soul.

(There’s a warrant for your soul)

You call this justice?

Why must,

Violence, rule the earth,

And greed control our lives?

VERSE TWO

You call this justice?

Religion, where your faith is proved,

When you make the people fools.

You call this justice?

Now please pay your tithes,

And rent your soul out gladly,

To Satan’s messengers of lies.

You call this justice?

I don’t think they ever knew,

I don’t think they’ll ever learn the truth,

(Ever learn the truth)

Twisting justice into bitterness.

You call this justice?

I don’t think that they perceive it,

I don’t think that they will ever see,

(Ever ever see)

Twisting justice into bitterness.

You call this justice?

I don’t think that they hear it,

I don’t think they’ll ever understand,

(Ever understand)

Twisting justice into bitterness.

You call this justice?

And you call this justice,

And you call this justice,

Twisting justice into bitterness,

There’s a warrant for your soul.

(There’s a warrant for your soul)

Let me expand on some of the points raised in the video in the Government and Religion sections below.

GOVERNMENT

The Broken Trust

Crowd of people protest against inflation and financial crisis - Protesters marching for rise cost of living.

Crowd of people protest against inflation and financial crisis – Protesters marching for rise cost of living.

It seems to me that the governments of this world have forgotten that we, the people, give them the power, which we invest in them through a relationship of trust expressed by voting. However, our trust is being abused as governments are engaging in nefarious activities that makes life harder for most people that government exists to serve.

The Inflation Lie

The "Inflation Squeeze" showing how real wages are not rising in line with inflation (UK figures).

The “Inflation Squeeze” showing how real wages are not rising in line with inflation (UK figures).

Governments fiddle the figures and try to narcissistically bamboozle us by telling us wages are going up and life is better than ever, when anyone can tell real wages are declining, it is only the nominal number that is going up. What good is it I’m paid 20% more than what I was a year ago, if the costs of the things I buy have risen 30 or  40%?

The War Machine

Military jet conducting a bombing

Military jet conducting a bombing

The exorbitant spending by the US Government on its military is the prime example – literally, the US Government is enslaving its populace to drain them of tax revenue to pay for its endless wars. The overwhelming majority of people in society don’t see the benefit of thee wars, only inflation and increased poverty, while the rich make massive profits – effectively making an upward transfer of wealth, from the working and middle classes to the super-rich.

Pentagon Pollution

Pentagon Pollution

The side effects of this military industral complex are pollution, not just from the high levels of fuel use, but also the dumping of toxic chemicals as a by-product of the use of military technologies. There is evidence that this waste affects not only miliary service personnel, but also innocent communities that are not combatant or adversarial.

Group of demonstrators fight to resist climate change.

Group of demonstrators fight to resist climate change.

Governments are engaging in endless cyles of war, despite saying with their lips the exact opposite. Governments are committing genocide – supposedly in our name and we are paying for it – doesn’t that alone make you feel sick? These same governments are funnelling money to corrupt corporations which invest in ways to control the populace, rather than give us autonomy and freedom. The power and autonomy of humans is being eroded, and we are being trained to rely more on government and technology than on traditional relationships which build far stronger bonds to sustain life.

War is a business.

War is a business.

The governments have also made it clear, they do not want to be held accountable for their actions in war. It seems they want to empty us of our taxes to indulge themselves in the murder of innocent people, and get away with it. We shoud lock murderers up in prisions, not pay them to run the government!

The Silencing of Dissent

What makes this situation even more enraging, is that as the governments back senseless wars and strip away our rights, they actually want us to keep silent about it as we can see with peaceful protestors being arrested, brutalised, even killed, whilst others face unlawful and/or unjust prison terms.

Police State vs Free Speech

The Fascist Drift

It seems that our governments are adopting the practices of the very regimes we were taught about in our youth, which we were taught to fear, taught to despise and that are deemed to be abhorrent to mankind. For our current governments to proclaim innocence and want to maintain their position as the moral authority of the world, when their practices are not dissimilar to the  Nazis, and other repressive regimes reflects a remarkable conceit.

Watch closely as democracy changes to fascism

Watch closely as democracy changes to fascism

Watch closely as democracy changes fo fascism

Our governments are only offering a minimal level of service while feeding their self-interest. We need to wake up to this fact, hold our governments accountable for their actions and force them to act in ways that benefit society, rather than drive us further into this dystopian wasteland of a future without hope for humanity.

Respect existence, or expect resistance.

RELIGION

The Two-Horned Beast

Religion is a jaded term and many people look on religion with some disdain because of the attrocities committed in the name of religion – child abuse and murder (cf. Matthew 18:6), financial scandals (cf. 1 Timothy 6:9/10), enslavement (cf. 1 Timothy 1:10, & Doctrine of Discovery), religious wars (cf. 2 Corinthians 10:4, The Crusades, etc), not to mention that central departure from the faith – rejecting the true testimony of the Messiah (cf. Matthew 5:17-20, Revelation 12:17 & Revelation 14:12). Sadly the Christian church has performed, and continues to perform actions that fly in the face of those scriptures. Nevertheless, I am a man of faith, and my position is that the faith described in the bible is good, but the current religious powers of the world do not follow the scriptures and are entirely fake. Scripturally:

Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon.

(Revelation 13:11 NIV)

The horns “like a lamb” are representative of the nature of The Messiah, termed “The Lamb of God” (cf. John 1:29, Revelation 5:12).  Biblically, The Lamb of God is a sacrifice for the sins of the whole world to offer us the opportunity to draw close to God through salvation. The scripture also refers to speaking “like a dragon”, and this is a critical juxtaposition in this text, because the “dragon” represents The Devil or Satan (cf. Revelation 12:9). So, what the scripture is describing is an entity, described as a a “beast”, which has the appearance of a godly, holy sacrifice, but speaks like the devil himself. The scriptures I have already referenced in the previous parargraph show just some of the ways this so-called church has departed from the direction of scripture to deceive the earth and draw us into their realm of tyranny.

The Falling Away

The modern day church bases its beliefs on the “Early Church Fathers”, “The Council of Nicaea” etc. The so-called Early Church Father’s departed from the teachings of The Apostles, this is arguably the “falling away” from the faith that Paul spoke of with the Quartodeciman Controversy (some call the Passover Easter Controversy – cf. 1 Corinthians 5:7) being just one of many examples of these men, deliberately choosing to depart from Yah’s commandments.

You cannot have a Prince of Peace without justice. Justice and peace go hand-in-hand, yet for thousands of years the Christian church has preached peace while holding the sword of war to our throats at various times, both mortally and spiritually.

Spiritual Pentagram and Cross Religion Symbol in Fire

The Yeast of Herod and the Pharisees

Did you know that The Messiah “Jesus”, “Yeshua”, “Yahusha” etc; was born in a country under colonial oppression? Today’s religion of Christianity doesn’t teach exactly what The Messiah said. Indeed, some of the world’s most fierce colonial nations – Rome (Roman Empire & Roman Catholic Church, it’s spiritual arm), The United Kingdom (which at the peak of empire colonised 70+ nations); and the military, technocratic, ponzi-scheme empire of The United States of America. These nations are the hubs of a religion, preached from a perspective, that only pays lip-service to the scriptures that speak against colonial power, with the excesses of greed, violence and hypocrisy, that typically accompanies the actions of such regimes!  The Messiah himeself spoke about such hypocracy in Mark chapter 8, let me break this down:

The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat. “Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.”

They discussed this with one another and said, “It is because we have no bread.”

Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”

“Twelve,” they replied.

“And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”

They answered, “Seven.”

He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”

(Mark 8:14-21 NIV)

Read the scripture with in today’s context, don’t relegate it to history. The Pharisees (and Sadducees) were the religious authorities of The Messiah’s day. Today our religious authorities may not call themselves by the names Pharisees or Sadducees, but the nature of their authority is the same. The Messiah spoke of them like this:

He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:

“ ‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules.’

You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

(Mark 7:6-8 NIV)

Do we not see this today that “The Church” is all about man-made traditions that nullify the commands of God? For example Sunday as a day of worship with those who keep the seventh day Sabbath looked on as strange, and even historically persecuted and killed by the Christian Church. You can read more about the evil ways of the Pharisees and Sadducees in Matthew chapter 23, noting particularly that The Messiah says they neglected to practice justice, mercy and faithfulness (v23).The Messiah accused them of greed and self-indulgence (v25).

In relation to the “yeast” of Herod, this refers to the colonial rule of Herod and his detachment from the people over which he ruled. He had no interest in true justice or in creating a society that put God at its head, because that was the place which he desired for himself. You can find out more about this if you read about the tyranny of Roman rulers in scripture.

Ultimately, with all the tithes and taxes these authorities obtained from the people, they produced a society with less justice, less healing, and less faith. This represents an epic failure of authority. This is what The Messiah termed the yeast of Herod and the Pharisees (and Sadducees), less output and value for society when driven by a hunger for more resource – coupled with a detachment from God, which drives society further into the claws of injustice and tyranny.

Christian should know, the bible commands justice

Can those conditioned by a culture that feeds off oppression, genocide, land-grabbing; those who have grown up, in the arms of this beast system, and have sought to keep it alive at all costs, morphing and shaping it to elude detection. Can these people really be the ones that either create the conditions for justice on earth to thrive, can they be trusted to bring peace among nations, or show us the door to freedom?

No justice. No peace!

No justice. No peace!

A Wider Definition of Immorality

The scriptures speak of immorality, and in today’s very visually led society, perhaps a society obsessed with physical pleasure, we are conditioned to understand the sordid nature of sexual sin. Of course sexual sin is bad, politicians, celebrities, high society figures and even royalty have been implicated and/or convicted in these matters. However, there are sins that are far more impacting to us all than sexual sins (which have a direct impact on one person or generally an smaller group of people). When the bible uses the term immorality, it is not just talking about sexual sin, it is talking about financial matters, matters of morality, respect, justice and judgement. Sadly, while we are preoccupied with the sins of some which are plain to see, we are overlooking the far more sinister sins which the authorities let run rampant without challenge. Why is this?

The sins of some are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them.

(1 Timothhy 5:24 NIV)

A wider definition of immorality.

A wider definition of immorality.

A Toothless Church

There are people in the Christian church who preach a message of personal salvation, but they have no wider message for society. That is like those who can save the ship from sinking just handing out life jackets! The reality is, church and government are linked, the church is toothless and can only do what it is permitted to do by other men (politicians), and even within its own sphere, they are again constrained by doctrines of men that do not reflect the true nature of God, and because the best they can offer are doctrines of corruption.

2 Peter chapter 2, verse 19

2 Peter chapter 2, verse 19

We must wake up to the fact many that religious institutions, especially the mainstream ones, are failing us in various degrees, just like the policitcians and monarchs are. We need to take back our autonomy as people and enforce our rights in the pursuit of creating peace and justice on earth. The focus has to be on a right relationship with God our creator, and our fellow men. For that to happen, the odious self-centred doctrines of racial division, captialistic greed, and the lust for death and war must be shamed and conquered. Pull out the weeds, so that the plants may grow!
