Wormwood Curse – Official Video

This video is about corrupt authority and bitterness of speech, termed the “Wormwood Curse”.

Biblically, lets look at the following scripture (Isaiah 55:1-2):

1)“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2) Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.

Water in this case is “teaching”, it is used as a metaphor. Consider what happens to a society if your source of teaching is poisoned, and still yet you have to pay lots of money for it!

You Call This Justice – Official Video

Future By Design’s “You Call This Justice” was originally recorded back in 2007, but the lyrics were not written until 2026. This is actually my first vocal Drum and Bass track. I’m bringing my understanding of scripture to face the current reality of the world we live in. We face injustice from those who are supposed to guide our lives, self interest and greed are endemic (maybe a “pandemic”). I don’t think we can expect such people to wake up and learn, so we are going to have to build the way to righteousness ourselves, if that is what we truly desire.

Easy Rollin’

A remastered version of Future By Design’s “Easy Rollin'”. Easy Rollin captures 90s rave joy with a twisted, flanger-drenched Amen break, gritty hoover, and deep sub bass. Built on an S1000 sampler and Mackie 1402 VLZ for that warm, overdriven crunch, with Generalmusic S3 and Roland MU100R stabs. It’s euphoric but rolling—classic jungle energy for modern floors

“Easy Rollin (Original Mix)”. Released: 2026. Track 1. Genre: Drum and Bass.

I wrote this track when I was searching hooked on electronic dance music, that can be quite a dark music scene fuelled by drink drugs and loose women. As believers in The Most High, there are temptations we must avoid to keep our consciences clear. The times change but the scripture speak to us as a warning:

My son, keep my words
and store up my commands within you.
Keep my commands and you will live;
guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.
Bind them on your fingers;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”
and to insight, “You are my relative.”
They will keep you from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her seductive words.
At the window of my house
I looked down through the lattice.
I saw among the simple,
I noticed among the young men,
a youth who had no sense.
He was going down the street near her corner,
walking along in the direction of her house
at twilight, as the day was fading,
as the dark of night set in.
Then out came a woman to meet him,
dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent.
(She is unruly and defiant,
her feet never stay at home;
now in the street, now in the squares,
at every corner she lurks.)
She took hold of him and kissed him
and with a brazen face she said:
“Today I fulfilled my vows,
and I have food from my fellowship offering at home.
So I came out to meet you;
I looked for you and have found you!
I have covered my bed
with colored linens from Egypt.
I have perfumed my bed
with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.
Come, let’s drink deeply of love till morning;
let’s enjoy ourselves with love!
My husband is not at home;
he has gone on a long journey.
He took his purse filled with money
and will not be home till full moon.”
With persuasive words she led him astray;
she seduced him with her smooth talk.
All at once he followed her
like an ox going to the slaughter,
like a deer stepping into a noose
till an arrow pierces his liver,
like a bird darting into a snare,
little knowing it will cost him his life.
Now then, my sons, listen to me;
pay attention to what I say.
Do not let your heart turn to her ways
or stray into her paths.
Many are the victims she has brought down;
her slain are a mighty throng.
Her house is a highway to the grave,
leading down to the chambers of death.

Third High

June 21, 2026 by FUTURE BY DESIGN

Artists, Energetic, Fast, Future By Design, Intelligent Drum and Bass, Music, Reflective, Single

A remastered version of Future By Design’s “Third High” initially available on a promo only basis back in 1998. This is actually my first Drum and Bass track. I lacked some of the sophisticated mixing equipment I have now back then, but this is a simple idea that is effectively captured. After a tranquil opening with the sound of sea waves crashing against the shore, the track switches mood switching to a crashing “Amen-break” + sub-bass fuelled epic, typical of the tracks being released at that time. Perhaps the change in musical tone is a contrast reflecting idealism vs reality.

“Third High” from Third High by Future By Design. Released: 2026. Track 1. Genre: Drum and Bass.

I wrote this track when I was searching for worldly ways of dealing with stress and looking for escapism. Let’s just say, all earthly pleasures have their limit, but Yah’s way of dealing with this, is totally different:

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Psalm 16:11 NIV

Waiting for the Summer

“Waiting for the Summer” from Waiting for the Summer by Future By Design. Released: 2026. Track 1. Genre: Drum & Bass.

A remastered version of Future By Design’s “Waiting for the Summer” initially released back in 1998. Summer is my favourite time of year and this track is about the optimism of the summer reason, along with its brightness, beauty and freedom.

Excuse the accompanying video, I’ll be up front about it – it’s a mix of some of my favourite photos, holiday snaps and video, but also has some generic stock video content thrown in too.

People, families, towns, nations and even the world need their own metaphorical “summer” season. The ideologies and actions that limit or kill growth, analogous to winter, need to be identified, correctly characterised and dismissed, as we embrace ideologies and actions that inspire true growth, that which is sustainable and treats people as equals.

I believe that the bible offers us indeed directs us, to strive for this kind of world, starting with our own actions, compounded with the actions of others, who together have the power to overturn systems that oppress and war for greed and pride to be perpetually seated as king.

A wisdom without weapons of war that has the power to change this world. Is it possible?

And He will judge between the nations,
And will mediate [disputes] for many peoples;
And they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not lift up the sword against nation,
And never again will they learn war.
Isaiah 4:2 Amplified Bible

No Allies

March 20, 2026 by FUTURE BY DESIGN

Artists, Energetic, Fast, Future By Design, Intelligent Drum and Bass, Mental Health, Single

A remastered version of Future By Design’s “No Allies” initially released back in 1998. This dark and atmospheric drum ‘n’ bass track, again features a slap bass which is unusual for this genre. I guess this track sounds like a war in the mind. I wrote it because sometimes I’ve felt that I have no allies in life. There are times when I have a point of view, an aspiration, and it seems like no one supports me in it. I’ve grown to realise that this is normal, even what makes us men. As a man, you are accountable and must have the courage to take a stand for your convictions, either for good to enjoy their fruit, or for evil and pay the consequences of your thoughts and actions.

“No Allies” from No Allies by Future By Design. Released: 2026. Track 1. Genre: Drum ‘n’ Bass.

This track is also about the mental pressure associated with modern living, the fast and unforgiving pace of life. We are often too rushed spend time building real connections, everything becomes transactional with a veneer of relationship. I end up thinking, are we becoming like machines, have we created the kind of society that forces us to work like robots, continually sacrificing our humanity for the sake of money and status?

To put it quite bluntly, I don’t think the mental pressure that work can put us under is calculable. The impact on our health, the loss of time and the draining of our humanity is a massive problem, both individually and as a society. The corporate world only knows profit, and will only pay lip-service to well-being after the damage is done to keep us poor workers in its clutches.

We need a mode of work that puts people first, we are not “human resources” to be used up, like things that are expendable, but rather, we are in the fabric of everything, we are more important than the profit, and our benefit should be the chief aim. I say this because in a world which is exclusively or even predominantly driven by profit, the needs of the people who support the system, and whom the system ultimately serves will be undermined.

This is not just my thinking, it is biblically based. Read Ezekiel 28, it speaks of a ruler who excelled in trade, grew strong and beautiful, but desecrated what is holy. Understand that the kings and principalities mentioned in the so-called “Old Testament” are not defunct, they still exist. However the battle we fight is not against physical people, but against the principalities and the rulers and authorities the front their power (Ephesians 6:12).

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 6:12

With that in mind, “No Allies” represents my spiritual battle about being committed to my faith in a society that is growing more hostile to it, not only because of people’s attitudes to faith, and the general expectations regarding what society regards as norms of conduct; but also because even to live in this system, I am fighting against an ideology that doesn’t value me as being truly human seeing me as merely a resource.

New Plateau

A remastered version of Future By Design’s “New Plateau” initially released back in 1998. This is a Drum ‘n’ Bass oddity, a trippy, slightly trancey ‘old-skool’ drum ‘n’ bass track with a funky slap bass guitar in it. Soothingly warm and elevating, rinsing the urban blues away.
